critic

As you grow a business, there are times when conflict can arise. It can come in all different forms. And, when you are successful, there will sometimes be people who will behave in disappointing ways. Sometimes, people can be rude, unprofessional and even say things that are not true.

Sometimes, it comes from friends or family who cannot handle a new, changing YOU! Sometimes, it comes from someone you sponsor or someone in your downline who is envious of what you have achieved. And, it could even come from a customer.

Whatever the case, choose carefully what you will tolerate and not
tolerate. Conflict should never stop you from focusing and moving
toward the achievement of your goal.

As long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and know your
intentions; your integrity; and who you are, refuse to let “the
turkeys get you down.”

You may have heard – “The time to worry is when people STOP
talking about you. As long as they are talking about you, it’s
something within themselves that they are choosing to deflect upon
you.”

Let the critics motivate you. Separate yourself from them. Choose
to disassociate with them.

Only you can put obstacles in your path; no one else does this for
you.

Here are some ways to handle conflict –

  1. Avoid reacting right away. If you immediately feel upset or angry, walk away from it. If it’s an email or a phone call, choose to enact the “24 hour rule” or at very least, sleep on it.
  1. Avoid talking to others about it. This can serve to make things worse.
  2. Attempt to gather as much information as possible.
  3. Attempt to square things away with the conflicted person, if possible. Sometimes, for whatever reason, this is not possible.
  4. Let go of any guilt associated with this.
  5. Above all, let go of people who want to struggle with you and create conflict. Avoid people who want to tangle with you on how you run your business. As a business owner, you have the right to run your business in the way you choose.
  6. Be clear on your own mission, your own ethics and your own boundaries in business.

You do not need to alter these for others.

Some people have passive aggressive personalities and you will
never be right or win. It doesn’t matter.

Not everyone will agree with you; respect you; or want to be your
friend and that is okay. Open up your heart and your life to allow
more people who share your values in and there will no longer be
time or room for those who do not.

As I already mentioned, let the critics motivate you. What steps
are you taking this week in your business?

Have a SUCCESSFUL week
